This resource uses 1st grade reading informational and literature standards because they are the most accessible- similar to both Kindergarten and 2nd grade.

Essentially, if we ask students to write the very skills that they are asked to identify and understand when reading, they will be better positioned to see those skills in someone else’s writing.

This resource is designed to be done in both a whole group shared writing position or an independent writing center activity.
