This unit is genre-specific. That means all of your students will be asked to produce
writing pieces that will persuade others to take a course of action. This genre is important because persuasive writing shows up in our daily lives. Students may write speeches, reviews, debates, articles, etc. It is important to show students a wide variety of writing products that fit underneath this genre. The students will use words to provide logical reasons for suggesting that others follow a particular course of action. We will be discussing what it means to provide reasons vs. promises when it comes to swaying the way their readers are thinking.
