This unit is (in my opinion) the most fascinating unit. When I was researching the habits and success stories of spellers, I found a common thread: people with great visual memories tend to be great spellers. From there, I started to research ways to improve and access the visual memory. Speaking as someone who does NOT have a stellar visual memory, I personally know this to be true (for me) because I was not a great speller growing up-and I’m still not one this day. No amount of rainbow/spiral spelling, 3x each, or tic-tac-toe board options ever really helped me remember how to spell words long term. I read that you can improve your visual memory with practice, and that is what this unit of study offers!
